The island granted to Lord Horatio Kitchener in the 1890. It was for his part in the Sudanese campaigns while he was the Egyptian Consul. In fact, Kitchener was a keen gardener. The best way to see the island in full and save walking is to get of at the main entrance. And then and walk the full length of the island till you reach the southern tip of the island. You can get your felucca from there. You may need to ask your felucca man to wait for you at the other end.
