Great Sand Sea Safari indeed is one of the most important Egypt Desert and Oases activities. Between Gilf El Kebir and Siwa Oasis lies the awesome immensity of dune fields. In fact, it is  which the explorer Gerhard Rohlfs named the Great Sand Sea. It covers in fact 72,000 square kilometers (roughly the size of Ireland). Moreover, the Great Sand Sea extends for an average of 650 km from north to south and 300km from east to west. Roughly two thirds of this consists of parallel Seif dunes, sometimes over 100m high and as much as 150 km long.
